A Merry New York Christmas: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

[Captain Jasper Hook]

              Jasper's scowl returned as he focused on James. ''Midshipman?! I'm the first born Hook son! I will not be your midshipman, Jamie Hook!'' Jasper viewed Chetna again. He relaxed after she mentioned not hurting him.

         Jasper heard Chetna's question. ''I prefer capturing ships. I also prefer my original ship. The Rake.'' Jasper smiled another time. ''Ah. The Rake. Such a glorious ship.''

        That was when Jasper saw a bearded man wearing a red jacket. ''Saint Nick?'' he muttered. He tried to remember a red velvet sack. ''Oh. THAT bag.'' He gasped after Saint Nick nodded at him.

         Curiosity caused Jasper to tilt his head to one side. ''Try out the bag?'' Jasper glanced at the bag for a moment. After shrugging, he reached into it and removed a gift. 

             Jasper suddenly wondered it was a trap gift. The kind of gift that would harm him if opened. He wondered if Saint Nick was aware of his past pirate activities. Jasper also remembered Saint Nick mentioning James getting a gift. 

           ''When am I able to open the gift? Should I wait a certain amount of time?'' Jasper never shook the box at all.

             James frowned at the short version of his name. He turned to Chetna. He smiled again. ''I could use another ship now. Since the Jolly Roger is still in Neverland. Peter Pan probably took control of it now. He is probably using my long johns as a flag.''

               James gasped after he recognized Saint Nick. *I forgot about the present I obtained.* His frown came back after Jasper took a gift. ''My brother shouldn't get a gift after capturing the woman I was going to marry years ago. Also for refusing to part with more gold. Jasper also isn't a gentleman like I am.''

"As Nick here said, in the spirit of the season and all that," Jack said as he saw Jasper with his box. "James, why not get yours out, and you can open them now? Then we can make sure that silly bag is not all used up. If it is, I'm not sure I can replace it. Tia Dalma, one of my dearest friends, is a powerful witch, but I doubt she could restore such a unique bag."

"Tia Dalma?" Chetna asked as she laughed a bit. "From what I remember of your dear friend, she would rather cause the seas to boil than fix a magic gift bag."

"You caught her on a bad day," Jack replied as he looked at the Hook brothers. "Well, what did you both get? Please let it not be some old mutton or smelly socks!"

            Jasper scowled at his younger brother. ''Keep your words to yourself, little brother!'' He glanced at the box he held. *I almost forgot about the present.* After shrugging, he opened it at a snail's pace. Jasper began to smile.

           ''Gold coins!'' Jasper held a few coins and still smiled. He turned to James. ''You got the usual long underwear, little brother?''

             James turned to Jasper. He began to glower. After turning to the present, he opened it. His eyes became wide after he saw what was inside. A smile replaced his scowl at a snail's pace. He revealed the item.

             It was a portrait of Captain Hook's mother. Captain Hook smiled as tears filled his eyes. They ran down his face. ''Mummy is with me again,'' he said.
