overall history • Mary Louise Dahl suffered from systemic hypoplasia. It caused her to resemble a toddler and prevented her from growing. Although she resembled a toddler, she played the title character in Love That Baby. Whenever the Baby-Doll character was in trouble, she uttered the catchphrase ''I didn't mean to.''
Mary played Baby-Doll when she was 20-years-old, but she still looked like a toddler. After ratings for the show decreased, a new character was introduced. Cousin Spunky. One day, he pushed Baby-Doll's head into her birthday cake during one episode and stole her spotlight. Enraged, Baby-Doll left the television program.
After unsuccessful attempts to act in dramas, Baby-Doll was shunned by others due to her size and typecasting. She remembered being happy during her days performing on Love That Baby. She eventually used thugs to capture her cast mates to relive episode moments. Baby-Doll tied everyone around a table and placed dynamite sticks in a birthday cake to get even with Spunky for stealing her spot light. Spunky used his mouth to throw the dynamite sticks into another area.
Batman appeared and revealed that Spunky was actually a disguised Robin. He and Robin had revealed Baby-Doll's plan to capture her cast mates to Spunky earlier. He eventually pursued Baby-Doll to a fair.
Baby-Doll found herself in the Hall of Mirrors and saw a reflection of her adult self. Her true self if she didn't have systemic hypoplasia. She thought of everything as false - her adult self, her life as a child star, etc. Baby-Doll hid a gun in her doll known as Mr. Happy Head and released many bullets at the mirrors until she ran out.
''I didn't mean to'' were the main words she said to Batman after he approached her and she cried.
After prison, Baby-Doll wished to get even with Batman for arresting her and found herself near Harley Quinn with the latter's friends.
