A new year, a new chapter

Jessie had decided to take some time off away from the school for a few different reasons but one being to spend more time with her boyfriend who she had gotten even closer to. Jessie was very much the bridge between the Macfeorais, Grey, Summers & Frost lines and at moments for the young Phoenix it was a little overwhelming. Ewan's caring nature helped.

The fiery redhead was meditating in the back of the property that the two of them owned. Their home away from home. She floated just off the ground as she felt a always welcomed presence behind her "Hello beloved." Jessie said opening her eyes.

[The Whisperer]

As was the way with the X-Men and his own very extended clan, closeness at times for Ewan became claustrophobia if time was not taken away from the rest of life. He and Jessie had been driving a few months back and had come upon a nice piece of property that was far enough away from the X-Men to allow them some privacy. If needed they could always portal back to the Westchester mansion or to San Francisco, but they needed a place to call their own. He had seen how others in his life, namely his brothers Caedmon and Malachi, found their hearts and souls away from the rest of the clan and then could come back to group refreshed and more clear-headed. He took that as a cue on how to live his own life.

"Jessie," Ewan said as he walked up behind his love, "thank you for finding this place. While family and friends are wonderful, at times they can also be quite taxing. I think we both needed the break. If I'm disturbing your meditation, I can go for a walk and come back in a bit."

Jessie rose and turned wrapping her arms around him. "Of course not love you never bother me. As for the property well I am happy we found it and happy you like it."

[The Whisperer]

"And I'm happy no one else knows where it is," Ewan said with a chuckle as he hugged Jessie in return.  "If my sister and Logan can run off to Canada or Japan to get away from it all, and they do it on the QT so no one can track them down, then we can as well. I know I sound selfish, but no one can be at their best without a bit of a respite. And heaven knows we can use one."

Ewan did not need to tick off the list of insane attackers, prying newscasters or overzealous superheroes that had crossed their paths in the last few months. Jessie knew them all too well.

"It is nice to just enjoy the quiet for a change. We've all been under the gun way too much. And that is all I want to say about that. Have you given any thought to places you might want to get away to down the road? Do not listen to my brother Donal's travel suggestions. That whole trip to Europe he says he has planned is one he has had planned for over one hundred years. He loves shiny new things and gets easily distracted, so he has no clue if the places he wants to visit still exist or not."

Jessie thought for a few long moments. "To be perfectly honest love no I haven't we haven't had such a long time to catch our breaths sometimes its just good to take a pause and enjoy whats around us." She said with a smile getting up she floated over to him and put her arms around him.

[The Whisperer]

Ewan smiled as Jessie put her arms around him. "Yes, much too much going on," he replied as he tried to push the last few months of jarring memories from his mind. "I am glad they have decided to let everyone be more or less bi-coastal now that they are reopening the school in Westchester. I'm glad that both Jean and Emma will be playing major parts in restoring the school. Have they spoken to you about teaching yet? No one has approached me, but then again, they might not anyway. Not too much of a call for horsemen nowadays, and I'm sure they really don't want Mal perching the dragons on the roof again, either. My family does have a tendency to scare off people sometimes."

[BENNU]

"I think they are waiting a bit to ask me....If they asked I wouldn't say no but we will see." Jessie responded as she then laughed at what Ewan said. "Oh I think that would add a bit of unpredictability and I think the school could use that. As for them approaching you give it time. I think Emma is still trying to figure everything out....Jean too for that matter."
