2/21/18 - BATMAN TAS TALES SO FAR

ALL WOUNDS
The Sewer King smiled after two alligators approached him. ''My pretties. My pets,'' he said. He scratched their snouts at the same time. The Sewer King viewed them rolling on their backs. His smile remained as he scratched their bellies.
*My children are obtaining various items for me now. They bring wrong items to me sometimes. They are clumsy sometimes.* The Sewer King began to scowl. *I'm always distressed if my children are clumsy. They almost harm me. They almost harm you, my pets.*
The Sewer King heard footsteps and viewed a boy appearing. ''Did you steal anything nice this time?'' he asked. He glanced from his fancy pirate-like garments to the rags the boy always wore. The Sewer King trembled with rage the minute the boy frowned. He began to point at him. His finger shook. ''Y,y,y,you cause me distress!''
After trembling, the boy stepped back and on one alligator's tail. He saw the Sewer King's wide eye. The boy fell forward before he scraped his knee. He winced. Many tears ran down his face. He viewed the Sewer King scowling and trembling again.
''Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Y,y,y,you cause me distress! Y,y,y,you cause my beloved pet distress!''
The boy ran.
After finding cloth on a table, the Sewer King used it to bandage the alligator's tail. He forgot about the boy's scraped knee. The Sewer King's smile returned after the alligator licked his face.

HARLEY'S NEW LIFE
Harley frowned as she walked by many buildings. *So I threw a pie at Mista J after Batman moved a few minutes ago. Mista J didn't have to fire me* she thought. Harley remembered the Joker scowling at her prior to Batman abandoning her. He was her new enemy instead of Batman. Her shoulders slumped.
Harley saw a manhole prior to a sad smile. *My new home. I belong in the sewer now* she thought. She tried to lift the sewer lid and winced. After moving the manhole to one side, she leaned forward and flailed. Her eyes widened. She fell and found herself in nasty water.
''YUCK!'' Harley's expression was one of disgust before she stood. She got out of the water and wandered. Harley paused the minute a man appeared with two alligators. She began to blink. She tilted her head to one side.
''Trespasser!'' the man said to Harley as he scowled.
Harley blinked twice. Confusion filled her eyes. ''I'm Harley,'' she said.
The man's eye widened. He rolled it during another scowl.
Harley focused on the man's cape with a pirate-like outfit. She also saw one dark half of his glasses. A smile formed before she approached him. ''Are you a pirate?'' she asked.
''The Sewer King.''
''YUCK!'' Another frown materialized on Harley's face. Her eyes widened again before another smile appeared. ''PUDDIN'!''
The Sewer King sputtered and shook at the same time. His eyes became wide the minute Harley took his glasses and wore them for a few seconds. He scowled again even after his glasses were returned. He began to glance at the alligators. The Sewer King pointed at Harley. ''DEVOUR HER, MY PETS!'' he shouted.
The Sewer King smiled after the alligators approached Harley. He watched as her smile remained.
''MY NEW PETS! THE ALLIGATORS ARE SO CUTE!'' Harley shrieked. She viewed the alligators' eyes widening prior to them turning and abandoning the shocked Sewer King. She continued to smile after the Sewer King trembled with rage again. Harley focused on him. ''I'm going to enjoy my new life.''
''I'm going to end your life!'' the Sewer King said.
Harley glanced at all surroundings before the Sewer King ran to her. She stepped to one side and saw him after he fell. Harley gasped. ''PUDDIN'!'' She ran to the Sewer King and held him. Harley kissed his face repeatedly as he struggled.
After running out of Harley's arms, the Sewer King saw a ladder. He used it to get out of the sewer. The Sewer King saw the sun with the blue sky. The sun caused him to wince. Tears ran down the Sewer King's face. He used his cape to shield his eyes.
*I have to return to the sewer this instant* the Sewer King thought before he turned. He heard Harley's voice.
''PUUUDDIIIIN'!''
The Sewer King's eyes widened again. After turning and facing the sun, he winced another time. The Sewer King smiled as extra tears ran down his face.
THE END
THE UMBRELLA
''Oswald! Don't forget to take your umbrella while you run errands,'' Mrs. Cobblepot said with worry in her eyes. She frowned as her shoulders slumped. Tears formed. ''Your father died after he was drenched in a sudden downpour.'' She viewed Oswald frowning.
''It's a sunny day,'' Oswald said. He glanced at the blue sky as he stood near his home. He turned to Mrs. Cobblepot before she scowled. Oswald's shoulders slumped. He held the umbrella above his head. He saw Mrs. Cobblepot's sudden smile.
Oswald smiled. ''I'll be fine.'' He still held the umbrella above his head as he walked far from Mrs. Cobblepot.
The memory vanished after the adult Oswald Cobblepot wandered near many shops in Gotham City. Frowning, he held one umbrella above his head. The rain never bothered him at all. He had to remember his other name. The Penguin. He never forgot his mother or what she said about his father.
*The umbrella will always protect me from the rain* Oswald thought. That was when he remembered a certain enemy. *Batman.* He began to glance at the umbrella.
Oswald smiled. *I'll visit Batman.* He also remembered the umbrella-blade.
THE END
THE USELESS GIRL
The Sewer King scowled by a sick alligator. His shoulders slumped. His body trembled. He was helpless to save it. Tears formed in the Sewer King's eyes. He continued to scowl.
*I should check on my children.* The Sewer King wondered if his children stole anything valuable. He began to glance at the alligator. He scratched the face. ''I'll return.'' He smiled and abandoned the alligator.
The Sewer King viewed a sick girl writhing. His scowl returned. ''Zero stealing. You're useless!''
Tears ran down the girl's face.
The Sewer King returned to the dead alligator. Tears ran down his face.
THE END
FATHER'S BOY
The Sewer King frowned as he paced by many children. ''Remember. Children should be seen and not heard,'' he said to them. The Sewer King continued to frown. He heard a girl's stomach while it growled. His body trembled. ''CHILDREN SHOULD BE SEEN AND NOT HEARD!'' he shouted.
The girl's body shook. Many tears ran down her face.
''CHILDREN SHOULD BE SEEN AND NOT HEARD!'' The Sewer King heard the exact words before. Many years ago. When he was a young boy. Before he was the Sewer King. When he was Wendell Lewis. The exact words were from his father.
Mr. Lewis scowled at his son after the latter sneezed. He trembled with rage. ''CHILDREN SHOULD BE SEEN AND NOT HEARD!'' He viewed many tears running down Wendell's face.
After the memory, the Sewer King ceased trembling. His frown remained. *I'm not my father!* he thought. The Sewer King faced the girl another time. *I'm not my father's son at all! I'm nothing like him.*
The Sewer King glanced at all children. He almost ordered them to steal items for him. He turned and abandoned them before he was in another sewer area. Memories of his father's scowl returned. The Sewer King continued to scowl as he collapsed on all fours. *I'm not my father!* Tears ran down the Sewer King's face. He sobbed. He was always going to be his father's boy.
THE END
CHILDREN SHOULDN'T SPEAK
A girl frowned after she failed to steal anything above a sewer and returned to the Sewer King's home. She trembled at the thought of the Sewer King's scowl. If she spoke? She remembered the Sewer King's words.
''CHILDREN SHOULD BE SEEN AND NOT HEARD!''
The girl saw a sick alligator. The Sewer King was going to punish her if his pet died. She had to approach him.
The girl ran to the Sewer King. She beckoned. She saw his scowl.
''DON'T BOTHER ME!''
The girl sobbed. The alligator was going to die. The Sewer King was going to sob.
