The X-Woman named Psylocke stood in front of the glass inside the former Asteroid M's holding cells. The lifeless body of the Black Queen of the Hellfire Club laid on a stretcher in front of her. Many days had passed since the Black Queen and her Inner Circle had attacked the X-Men, but something inside Selene's psyche had gone horribly wrong. She had somehow recoiled inside herself far enough that the X-Men's psychics, many of which hold Omega power levels, could not reach her. With her hands folded on her chest, Betsy considered if it was worth finding her. Psylocke had never really had any contact with the Black Queen prior, but she was renowned for being even more evil than Sebastian Shaw.
Once before, Psylocke had used her psychic knife, the focused totality of her considerable psionic prowess, during surgery. It was incredibly risky and could even kill the patient. That's what the Black Queen deserved, but the X-Men's morality would never allow for it. Psylocke considered the option- Finish off the Black Queen. Was it even possible? Selene was thought dead many times over, but she had proven her immortality. Still, with a shattered psyche, the Black Queen posed no threat. How long could that last though? Selene was a powerful telepath as well as a sorceress. She could, eventually, piece herself together.
If they performed the surgery, Selene's awakening could put the entire mutant existence at risk. Another telepath was supposed to meet Psylocke in the Med Bay with Selene. Psylocke took her time. Opening the glass, she expected Selene to rise and attack- a clever move. That didn't happen. Psylocke rolled Selene out of the holding cells and walked through the halls to the Medical Bay.
(Open!-Karen, if you wanted to go the Sebastian Shaw route, this would be a good route. If Emma decides against it, either Emma, Karenza, or any telepath could join in!)
