NEVER ANGER PREACHERS
Reverend Amos Howell glowered as soon as he stepped into a kitchen. He remembered looking forward to eating fried chicken earlier. His eyes were on Kara as she ate the last of the fried chicken before he trembled. Amos glanced at the kitchen window before his eyes widened.
A raccoon appeared on the kitchen floor.
After Amos tilted his head to one side, he turned to the tree by the window. He wondered if Kara forgot to close the window again. Amos watched while Kara turned to him. His scowl returned after her eyes flew open.
''Why are you here? You usually work on a sermon.''
Amos never replied. He viewed the raccoon licking the chicken on the table. His eyes were still on the raccoon before it walked to the window and got on a branch. He shook his head in disbelief.
Kara frowned and ate the chicken again.
One small smile materialized on the preacher's face. ''Never eat my lunch again,'' he muttered near Kara.

CHAPTER 1
Supergirl began to smile after she looked into a bedroom. She viewed Reverend Amos Howell resting in a blouse and blue boxers. His hands were under one side of his face. There was a frown as his long hair concealed a shoulder. ''You won't check on me this time,'' Supergirl said.
She approached the front door and heard footsteps. Her eyes flew open.
Supergirl looked back. Her eyes remained wide as Reverend Amos Howell stood near a table and scowled. They settled on his hat and black suit with matching shoes. A string tie was attached to his blouse. Two strands of hair reached below the tie. His arms tensed by either side of his body.
''You got dressed quickly?''
Amos nodded at a snail's pace. ''It's almost midnight. You're not going to battle villains,'' he said.
''How did you know?'' Supergirl glanced at her costume. The giant S on her top. The cape and skirt with her boots. ''Oh. Right.''
''You're going to bed.''
Supergirl frowned. ''I should protect everyone in Smallville. I'm not sleepy at all,'' she said.
''Others are resting. What you should do,'' Amos said.
Supergirl started to shrug. ''You never know. A few people might wander.''
''Bed!''
Supergirl's body tensed before hands formed fists at either side of her. Scowling, she walked into her bedroom. ''Nosy preachers won't always check,'' Supergirl said. She glanced at the window.
Supergirl smiled again. After she opened the window, she flew outside. She closed the window and abandoned the farm.
CHAPTER 2
Frowning, Supergirl flew by many trees. Her eyes were on barren areas. ''I'll find someone sooner or later. Maybe!'' Supergirl looked back. There was a new smile.
''Preacher isn't with me.'' She thought she heard footsteps by trees. After Supergirl blinked twice, she flew to a tree. Footsteps continued, but she never saw anything. There weren't others. Zero villains or creatures. Zero preachers.
Supergirl began to squint and frown. A slight shrug before she flew another time. Supergirl heard footsteps again. She paused.
Supergirl's eyes flew open another time.
A dark creature appeared and snarled. The dark slits in its red eyes narrowed before its long tail thrashed. There were many fangs with spikes all over its form. Two fins started from the neck to the tail. There were three large claws on each foot. Its form was barely taller than a tree.
Supergirl smiled. ''Are you hungry?'' She continued to smile after the creature roared. ''I guess you are,'' she said.
Supergirl began to fly to the creature before her fist contacted one side of its body. She heard it as it roared again. There was a new frown on her face. ''There aren't going to be any midnight snacks,'' she informed it. Her eyes were wide again as soon as it snapped near her. Supergirl was barely able to dodge its fangs.
The creature started to swing its tail before Supergirl dodged the attack. Barely.
Supergirl thought she heard new footsteps. She wondered if there was another creature. It was worse.
A certain scowling preacher.
CHAPTER 3
Supergirl's eyes were wide again. ''You followed me?'' Supergirl viewed Amos nodding at a snail's pace. She glowered. ''I'm trying to defeat a hungry creature. Remember? I'm trying to protect everyone in Smallville,'' she said.
''BED!''
''I'll never get on your good side,'' Supergirl said to Amos.
''BED!''
Supergirl turned to the creature before she flew from its fangs.
''If enemies harm you...''
Supergirl viewed tears in the scowling preacher's eyes. Confused, she tilted her head to one side and flew to him. She looked back. Her eyes were wide again as soon as the creature raised its claws and brought them down.
Amos tried to protect Supergirl. He wrapped his arms around her. He cried out the minute his back was scratched. His long coat was torn before scratches were revealed. Amos winced. He viewed Supergirl's expression of shock.
''You view yourself as my foster father?''
There was a tiny smile before Amos nodded. He shrieked after his arm was scratched. He released Supergirl and fell asleep.
CHAPTER 4
Supergirl focused on Amos with wide eyes. She turned to the creature before she scowled again. ''My father protected me.'' Supergirl glanced at Amos. Her smile returned. ''I'll protect my father,'' she said.
One new scowl was present after Supergirl focused on the creature. Her arms stretched as she flew with her fists revealed. They contacted its neck before it winced. Supergirl began to kick one of its legs. She smiled again the minute the creature ran. She flew to Amos and carried him to his bedroom.
Supergirl stood by a bed. After she placed Amos on a blanket, she stepped back. Supergirl continued to smile. She viewed Amos stirring and opening his eyes.
Amos glanced at the scratches on his arm and back. His eyes widened.
''A creature attacked us recently. You protected your daughter,'' Supergirl said.
Amos turned to Supergirl and viewed the smile. He began to frown. ''I remember,'' he said.
A new frown replaced Supergirl's smile. ''Your scratches...'' Supergirl watched while Amos smiled slowly.
''I'll be fine,'' Amos said to Supergirl. He winced for a second and saw concern in Supergirl's eyes.
Supergirl started to smile another time. ''You're a nosy preacher.''
Amos smiled after Supergirl abandoned the bed.

GOING BACK
CHAPTER 1
Reverend Amos Howell glowered as he approached Supergirl. He watched while she stood by the front door and almost opened it. ''There you are! I found you.'' Amos viewed Supergirl turning to him with wide eyes. He still glowered. His arms tensed with his body.
''Are you going to battle villains as I complete farm tasks again?''
Supergirl frowned and glanced at the door. She shrugged.
''Ma Kent said we had to feed the animals a few seconds ago,'' Amos said as he folded his arms.
''Every animal? Ma never said anything about feeding you,'' Supergirl said. She smiled again.
Amos began to squint.
''I'll return as soon as possible,'' Supergirl said.
''You're going to help this time.''
Supergirl's frown came back. ''I'll feed the animals if I don't find villains,'' she said. Supergirl turned to the door and nearly opened it another time.
''Wait a minute.''
''Southern preacher fathers,'' Supergirl said before she watched as Amos trembled.
Amos slapped Supergirl across the face and knocked her down.
CHAPTER 2
''You viewed me as one of the animals. You poked the animal.''
Supergirl winced before she stood. There were tears in her eyes as she scowled at Amos. Her hands formed fists. ''Hitting your foster daughter?''
Amos shrugged.
''Do you recall your master hitting you occasionally? Knocking you down. Viewing your tears.''
Amos continued to glower. ''I suffered the consequences if I returned without others for my master to control,'' he said.
''Unity also abandoned you recently,'' Supergirl said.
''How do you know about Unity hitting me?''
''I remember standing near a tent some time ago. I watched as Unity struck you.'' She viewed his eyes flying open.
''You never protected me?''
One of Supergirl's eyebrows went up. ''We were enemies. You tried to lure others to your master so that he was able to become one with them. Conquer worlds,'' she said.
Supergirl scowled again. ''Your master viewed you as useless before he abandoned you. One current task is to feed the animals. You're not useless.''
CHAPTER 3
''Thanks?'' Amos muttered after his eyes widened again.
''Ma and Pa Kent took you in. They became your new family. They became my family after they took me in. We have something in common.''
''I suppose,'' Amos said before he shrugged.
Supergirl's smile came back at a snail's pace. ''I'll return as soon as possible,'' she said. She watched while his eyes widened again.
Supergirl opened the door and flew from the farm.
''Wait a minute!'' Amos said after he stepped outside. There was a new scowl before he fed the animals. Amos remembered hitting Supergirl. His shoulders slumped. He also recalled his master hitting him and knocking him down. Unity viewing him as he winced and sobbed.
Tears appeared before shoulders slumped another time. ''I wish I could go back. I wish I never harmed my daughter,'' he muttered.
Amos never wished to go back to Unity. Almost never. A tiny part of him wished to get on his master's good side. Assuming Unity had a tiny bit of a good side.
There was a new scowl as Amos remembered Unity hitting him again. A new memory appeared. A memory of Supergirl as she sometimes smiled near him. Ate sweets with him. Went to him for religious advice. ''I have to redeem myself, but how?'' One new thoughtful expression formed slowly.
CHAPTER 4
Many hours later, Amos stood by his bed. His arms were behind his back. Amos remembered Supergirl never returning to help. He didn't seem to mind this time. The other thing he remembered? Abandoning the farm after he completed his tasks.
Amos heard footsteps and smiled after Supergirl appeared. He saw her wide eyes. He began to smile.
''Why are your arms behind your back?''
One frown appeared. ''I wish I could return to earlier. I wish I never...'' Amos glanced at Supergirl's face before his shoulders slumped another time. ''I remembered my master hitting me.'' He saw worry in her eyes.
''Amos...''
''I remembered your previous smile. When you went to me for religious advice. When we ate sweets. This is my way of apologizing for hitting you earlier.''
Supergirl's eyes were wide as soon as Amos revealed some chocolate treats in a small bag. She took the bag and smiled. ''Thanks.''
There was one new smile before Amos nodded.
Supergirl opened the bag and removed one chocolate. Her eyes flew open another time. ''This is dark chocolate. I like milk chocolate,'' Supergirl said.
Amos tensed before his eyes widened another time. He viewed Supergirl dropping the bag and flying from him to battle villains again.
After Amos frowned, he lifted the bag and opened it. He began to sit near the bed. ''I obtained treats for my daughter.'' Another shrug. ''I'll eat dark chocolate.''
THE END
THE RACCOON
Reverend Amos Howell frowned as he wandered Smallville. He glanced at Kara. Another stroll. Another father-daughter evening. Amos heard footsteps by a tree before he paused. He began to place his arm in front of Kara.
After Kara blinked twice, she turned to Amos. ''I don't remember seeing any villains recently. You're most likely hearing animals,'' she said. Kara watched while Amos lowered his arm. She walked by his side another time. ''I'm hungry,'' Kara said. She started to smile. ''The Pig Pit?''
New footsteps were why Reverend Amos Howell paused again.
''I guess you're not hungry,'' Kara muttered as she frowned.
Amos stepped back the minute a snarling raccoon appeared near a tree. He turned to Kara and wrapped his arms around her. He looked back.
The raccoon stepped to one side. Three young raccoons were revealed.
Amos released Kara before they abandoned the animals. His eyes were on her again as one smile materialized. ''The Pig Pit.''
Amos watched while she smiled.
The raccoon protected her young. Just like how Amos protected his daughter.
THE END
A NEW RACCOON
Frowning, Supergirl flew above many trees in Smallville. There weren't any villains to defeat. Her eyes widened as soon as she viewed a young raccoon wandering. Curiosity formed in Supergirl's eyes before she approached the raccoon. She watched as it stepped back. One smile materialized on her face.
''I'm Supergirl. I'm not your enemy.'' She crouched and stretched her arm. ''Are you hungry?'' The raccoon approached her at a snail's pace. ''I guess you are,'' she said.
Supergirl shrugged. ''I didn't bring any food,'' she said. Supergirl's smile remained. ''Wait here. I'll bring you something to eat.'' She flew to a farm before she walked into the kitchen. Her eyes were on Reverend Amos Howell while he ate fried chicken at a table.
Supergirl viewed three chicken wings and walked to them.
''Are you hungry?'' Reverend Amos Howell wished to know after he turned to Supergirl.
''No.'' She watched as Amos shrugged and ate his lunch again. Her eyes flew open another time the minute the raccoon appeared by the door. She walked to the door and opened it.
Supergirl viewed the raccoon climbing up the table and getting on it. Her eyes flew open as soon as it approached the chicken wings. She saw the preacher's shocked expression.
The raccoon took a wing and ate it.
Amos watched with wide eyes before he scowled at Supergirl. ''Your new pet?''
Supergirl glowered. ''You're the other pet.''
The raccoon ran and abandoned the farm before it was followed.
Supergirl and Amos paused as soon as the raccoon found its mother. They viewed the animals departing.
Supergirl's smile returned.
Father and daughter exchanged glances with happy expressions.
THE END
AFTER RACCOONS ATTACK
Reverend Amos Howell's eyes widened the minute he walked into the kitchen and viewed Kara eating a chocolate cake slice. He began to scowl at her. ''I looked forward to eating that! My one treat.'' Amos watched while Kara turned to him with wide eyes. ''There aren't any other cake slices.''
Kara stood and scowled. ''Eat wet cat food. There are plenty of cans of the stuff. Your type of food,'' she said.
Amos tensed and continued to scowl. He slapped Kara across the face before tears formed in her eyes.
A raccoon appeared in the kitchen before Kara and Amos turned to it. Their eyes flew open.
''The raccoon won't be your new pet,'' Amos said after he frowned near Kara.
''You're a pet with rabies! You ARE rabid!'' Kara said to Amos. She viewed him approaching the raccoon. ''What are you going to do? Preach near the raccoon? I'm certain it's going to enjoy hearing about unity from a preacher.''
Amos tried to lift the raccoon before it snarled and bit his hand. He cried out and stepped back. Wincing, he watched while the raccoon ran to where the door wasn't shut and abandoned him. He saw worry in Kara's eyes. Amos turned to his hand. There was a bloody mark.
''You forgot to shut the door again?''
Kara's scowl returned. After she approached the sink, she washed the hand before he winced another time. Kara went to get a bandage and placed it on his hand. One new smile was present. ''There. You should be fine.''
Amos smiled. ''Many thanks,'' he said. Amos started to frown another time. ''About earlier... I apologize,'' he said in a sincere tone. He watched as Kara continued to smile.
''We'll obtain sweets tomorrow,'' Kara said.
Amos started to smile another time. He nodded. He glanced at the bandage. The consequence for a father after he harmed his daughter.
THE END
RACCOON EVENING
Reverend Amos Howell tilted his head to one side after a raccoon crossed his path. One new smile formed. ''A pet for my foster daughter.''
Amos pounced before the raccoon moved. His eyes flew open. He winced as soon as he contacted the ground.
Scowling, Amos stood and focused on the raccoon. A white tentacle emerged from his mouth and stretched to it. Amos watched while the raccoon dodged the tentacle. It returned to his mouth at a fast pace.
The raccoon snarled before it ran.
Amos considered another option. He smiled again. One hour went by before he found himself near Kara's bedroom. He held something behind his back. Amos viewed Kara standing by her bed. Curiosity in her eyes.
Amos revealed a present for his foster daughter before she smiled.
A stuffed raccoon was in Kara's arms.
THE END
THE RACCOON'S FOOD
Reverend Amos Howell's eyes flew open after he heard a noise. He sat up before he got out of bed. Amos walked to a window as he wore a blouse with blue and white striped boxers. The noise continued near the window. Frowning, he dressed in his regular preacher clothes. A hat with a wide brim. A black suit with matching shoes. Another blouse with a string tie attached to it.
Amos abandoned his bedroom and approached another chamber. He viewed Martha Kent resting with her arms around Jonathan Kent. One smile materialized. He remembered everything good about them. Their happy expressions. Everything with the exception of Martha's stew. He frowned and shuddered.
Another bedroom was glanced at. Kara smiled with her arms around a stuffed animal.
*I'll protect my family* Amos thought as he frowned again. He went outside and heard the sound. He followed it and eventually paused. His eyes widened another time.
A raccoon ate near a garbage can on the ground.
Amos smiled after the raccoon ate stew and ran. ''Someone else doesn't like stew,'' he said. His eyes were wide the minute he heard footsteps.
He looked back.
There were tears in Martha's eyes before she turned and abandoned the confused preacher.
THE END
RACCOON FANGS
Frowning, Reverend Amos Howell stood by a kitchen window. He was going to protect the farm while his foster family ran various errands. Protect the animals. Protect everything else. Amos walked to the door and opened it before he stepped outside. He forgot to close the door as he checked on every animal.
Amos returned to the kitchen as his frown remained. After he closed the door, he stretched his arms. It was time for a nap. Amos went to his bedroom before he heard footsteps. His eyes flew open for a second. Amos followed the sound and found himself in Kara's bedroom. Eyes widened again.
A raccoon used its fangs to tear one of Kara's stuffed animals apart. Limbs were scattered.
Amos scowled. He imagined Kara's tears if she viewed what remained of her toy. He approached the raccoon before it snarled at him.
Eyes were wide again as soon as the raccoon seized his trousers with its fangs and yanked. Amos scowled another time the minute he viewed his boxers with white and green stripes. He pulled his trousers up after the raccoon released his clothes. He pursued it to the kitchen and out the door. There was a glance at the doorway. The scowl remained. He remembered to close the door this time.
Amos recalled Kara's family adopting him some time ago. *I should fix Kara's toy* he thought. He walked to a drawer and opened it. He took a few sewing supplies before he was in Kara's bedroom. Amos gathered the toy limbs and approached the animal. After he sat near them, he began to sew.
One hour later, Amos stood with the ''new'' animal behind his back. He smiled after Kara and her foster parents returned. He revealed the animal and approached Kara. ''There was a bit of an accident, but I repaired it.''
Confusion appeared in Kara's eyes before she smiled. ''Raccoons?''
''How did you know?'' Amos asked with wide eyes.
''You forget to close the door sometimes,'' Kara said. She wrapped her arms around Amos before she released him.
THE END
TWO CHOCOLATE TREATS
Reverend Amos Howell and Kara smiled as they sat across from one another within a kitchen. One chocolate treat for each of them. A third treat remained on a platter between them. They were willing to split the treat in half.
''What are your plans for the rest of the day?'' Kara asked.
''I'm going to work on a sermon. You?''
''I'm going to run errands in Metropolis. Maybe we can meet for lunch later? Father-daughter?''
Amos nodded and still smiled. He turned to the third treat. His eyes were wide as soon as a raccoon appeared on the table. Amos viewed it seizing the treat in its jaws and carrying it. He blinked repeatedly while the raccoon ran outside. Eyes settled on the doorway.
Amos scowled before he faced Kara and she imitated him.
''You forgot to close the door again!'' Kara and Amos said at the same time.
THE END
MARCH TREATS
Worry appeared in Reverend Amos Howell's eyes as he remained by Kara's bed all evening. He had no idea why Kara refused to eat new treats.
THE END
CHOCOLATE
Frowning, Supergirl flew to Reverend Amos Howell after she defeated a villain near a chocolate shop. ''I'll choose the next chocolate shop,'' she said to him.
THE END
THE PREACHER'S CHOCOLATE
Supergirl winced as soon as Reverend Amos Howell slapped her. Tears formed in her eyes as she glanced at a chocolate treat on the kitchen table and not even chocolate was able to repair her heart after the preacher disciplined her for eating his chocolate bar earlier.
THE END
ONE MARCH EVENING
Reverend Amos Howell sobbed the minute Supergirl ate his chocolate cake slice and abandoned him. He always dreaded viewing his empty food plate and his daughter abandoning him.

THE SEWER KING'S SMILE
The Sewer King frowned and remained by a pet alligator for what seemed like many hours. He scratched the sick animal's snout. He never laughed as usual. The Sewer King wasn't shocked about the alligator refusing to wag its tail. Worry filled his eyes. He wondered if the alligator was going to writhe another time.
The Sewer King was willing to suffer with his pet.
One memory of many children fleeing to the streets of Gotham City formed. A memory of the Sewer King sending them to steal lots and lots of pretties. His children never returned. Not even lots and lots of pretties were going to cause him to smile. The Sewer King smiled after the alligator glanced at him. His smile was going to be the last thing the alligator viewed.
Three hours later, the alligator survived and wagged its tail. It was happy with the Sewer King. A man's wish come true.
THE END
AFTER ALLIGATORS VISIT
The Sewer King's eyes widened the minute he viewed newspaper photos of his parents. He tried to remember when he was with them.
It was so long ago. A bit before society shunned the poverty-stricken man and forced him to live under the streets of Gotham City.
The Sewer King recalled his kind parents. When they always smiled. When they always held him.
The Sewer King heard footsteps before his eyes flew open. One new smile materialized on his face as soon as four pet alligators appeared and approached him. ''You found me. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.''
The Sewer King laughed in a gentle tone and scratched the animals' snouts. His eyes were on the alligators while their tails wagged.
Frowning, the Sewer King wondered how his parents were going to react if they discovered his current life. His life as a man forcing children to work in darkness. Forcing children to steal lots and lots of pretties for their king. A man with many pet alligators.
The Sewer King heard footsteps before his eyes flew open again. He stepped back the minute he recognized his happy parents.
''Son! We found you!'' the Sewer King's father said. He and his wife ran to the Sewer King before they wrapped their arms around him.
Scowling, the Sewer King struggled. That was when he remembered the newspaper article mentioning his parents searching for their son.
THE END
A NEW VISITOR
The Sewer King glowered and wondered if there were trespassers after he heard footsteps below the streets of Gotham City.
Confused, he tilted his head to one side after a hungry stray cat appeared and fled due to three pet alligators near his side.
THE END
ONE VISITOR
The Sewer King smiled after his children appeared with a new girl they found on the streets of Gotham City. New hands to steal lots and lots of pretties for him.

FAMILY FUN
Michiru began to smile after she glanced at the blue sky. A perfect day to paint. Michiru turned to the painting she almost finished.
The sound of a door closing caused her eyes to widen for a few seconds. She turned to Hotaru while the latter smiled and held something behind
her back. Michiru's smile came back.
''What are you up to, Hotaru?''
''Nothing,'' Hotaru said as she continued to smile with her arms behind her back. She viewed Michiru turning to her painting.
Hotaru ran to a table before she sat near it. Her eyes settled on a plate of treats. Hotaru still held the item behind her back. She took a treat and devoured it.
Michiru stepped back as soon as she finished her painting. It was a portrait of a happy Hotaru in her arms. She faced Hotaru and saw the latter's wide eyes. ''Perfect portraits.''
Michiru blinked after a sudden downpour. One glance at colors running down. Horror and tears filled her eyes. She ran inside before Hotaru followed her.
''Sorry about your painting,'' Hotaru said with concern in her eyes.
One small smile formed after Michiru viewed Hotaru another time. ''I'll be fine.'' She frowned. ''Perhaps.''
''I have a present for you.''
''Oh?''
Hotaru nodded before she revealed her own painting of Michiru. She wondered how the rain never ruined it. She watched while Michiru smiled and took the painting. Hotaru was thanked. That was when she remembered the treats outside. Her eyes became wide. ''The rain ruined our treats!'' she said.
Michiru smiled again. ''Let's make new treats,'' she said.
Hotaru began to nod another time.

THE SPIDER'S EVENING
Frowning, Sailor Lead Crow followed a large spider. After she revealed a whip, she brought her arm back. ''Nothing will prevent me from finding Star Seeds for Sailor Galaxia,'' she muttered. Sailor Lead Crow watched while the spider fled. She returned her whip to its proper place. Sailor Lead Crow began to smile. ''Nothing will prevent me from finding Star Seeds.''
Sailor Lead Crow's eyes flew open as soon as she glanced at a barren area in the park. She started to blink repeatedly.
''Siren?'' She thought her companion was with her earlier. Sailor Lead Crow searched for Sailor Aluminum Siren. She paused the minute she viewed Sailor Aluminum Siren ordering sweets.
Sailor Lead Crow scowled as she approached Sailor Aluminum Siren. Her eyes widened again the second she recognized the spider on the latter's shoulder.
Sailor Aluminum Siren obtained her treat and ate it at a snail's pace. She turned to the spider on her shoulder and smiled. Sailor Aluminum Siren offered her food to it. Confused, she tilted her head to one side after Sailor Lead Crow scowled.
