He taught his midshipman James Hook how to use weapons such as swords and daggers. It was Christmas Day when Captain Jasper Hook captured a ship that transported Cecilia, the betrothed of James. He was more than happy to imprison Cecilia and force her to walk the plank. Jasper later gave his crew quite a bit of the treasure he just obtained.
James was enraged after Jasper refused to give him special treatment. He wasn't fond of his elder brother giving him less gold than the crew.
He and Jasper fought one another before the latter commented on teaching him to use weapons well. James disarmed Jasper and defeated him.
Jasper later died and was revived by Selene. He was willing to serve her in order to get even with Captain James Hook for defeating him years earlier. He is currently still with Selene and her coven.
